Went to the gym this morning and tried to not let it kick my butt. Not real sure if I succeeded or not. Came home and did yesterday's post... and also snapped a few shots of Lucy (told you she'd make it into the project). And here she is... her blog debut!
Day008: My Black Child
I love this picture of her. She was sitting on the back of the couch trying to sleep and I kept sticking the camera in her face. This is her way of saying 'I'm ignoring the hell out of you in an attempt to make you go away.' Here's a bit of Lucy's background that will help explain the title of this picture. I adopted her around Christmas 2008 from the SPCA. I was looking around at all the kittens and had played with a couple (not Lucy yet)... and then a poster caught my eye that said something to the effect of black cats being much less likely to be adopted because of the stigma and superstition attached to black cats. Then my little brother suggested I look at Lucy (whose name was actually Beauty at the time)*.
The rest is history. I fell in love with her and ever since then, I have had a huge soft spot for black cats. I want to adopt them all and it makes me sad to see soooo many of them in shelters compared to other, more colorful kitties. So anyway... I always joke with Ryan that we are going to end up with multiple black cats, thus becoming the Brad and Angelina of the cat world with all of our black babies. Too much? Haha
Anyway... that's Lucy's story in a nutshell.
*I changed her name to Lucy because she has a white spot shaped like a diamond on her chest. It made me think of the Beatles song "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds."
